This year become an AR Star!

Students are working hard this year with the Reading Renaissance web-based Accelerated Reading program.  There are prizes and incentives for individual students, as well as for classes.   We are encouraging students and classes to work towards their quarterly point goal while keeping their average at 85% or higher!

Accelerated Reading Incentives:

Daily:  Teachers encourage and motivate students with individual classroom incentives.  Classes are trying to earn the highest percentage of student participation on the grade level while maintaining an average of 85% or higher.

Weekly:  A large star is placed outside of the "Star" class on each grade level.   The "Star" class is chosen based on the class' AR reading average and the percentage of students who are working toward their individual AR goal.   Classes with an average of 85% or higher are also recognized.

Monthly:  Classes are recognized for having the highest percentage of students meeting their quarterly AR goal and maintaining a class average of 85% or higher.  Their certificates are displayed on the AR bulletin board.

Quarterly:  Students are rewarded individually throughout the quarter when they reach 50% of their AR point goal and when they reach 100% of their AR point goal, while also maintaining an 85% average or higher.  When students reach 50% of their goal they receive a colored book charm of their choice.  When they reach 100% of their goal they receive an additional book charm of their choice.

Students meeting their quarterly goal will also be photographed and displayed around the AR bulletin board.

Classes are also rewarded each quarter.  The class on each grade level with an 85% or higher average and the highest number of students meeting their goal receives a pizza party. 

Yearly:  Throughout the year students get glow in the dark book charms for every 25 points that they earn while maintaining an average of 85% or higher.  At the end of the year the student with the highest number of points on each grade level will receive an a special prize.  The student with the highest number of points in the school will also receive a prize.  The prizes will be announced at a later date.
