CRTs for 4th quarter will be May 22-28th

      The misssion of Semmes Elementary School is to educate every child.  It is our goal that "No Child Be Left Behind".  A series of assessments referred to as EQT - (End of Quarter Test) will be administered at the end of each quarter.  EQT's are developed using course objectives.  They are administered at the end of each quarter.

     K-5 students take quarterly criterion ref. tests in reading and mathematics.  Grades 4 & 5 also take criterion tests in science.  EQT test restults will count 10% of a student's math and reading grade for the quarter in grades K-3.  EQT test results will count 20% of a student's math, reading, and science grade for the quarter in grades 4 and 5.

      It is imperative that your child be in attendance on these days.  Semester grades can not be completed until these tests are completed.  We will be testing from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30a.m. each day.  Children should not be made to fear these tests.  They re just tools that teachers will use to provide intervention for students who did not master specific skills.  By testing quarterly, a child will not lose an entire year without identifying problem areas that interfere with learning.
