Mr. Richard Eubanks reading The Very Hungry Catapillar

Jumpstart's Read for the Record

A Big Thank You goes out to our PIE Semmes

Wal-Mart and Manager Mr. Richard Eubanks.

Mr. Richard Eubanks brought his staff to SES

on Thursday and read "The Very Hungry Catapillar" to our K-2nd grade students.  The reading was complete with beautiful hand painted illustrations and one Wal-Mart employee dressed as a beautiful butterfly!  Mr. Eubanks brought apples for every child and teacher, thanks to the produce dept.  Wal-Mart was trying for a record of reading to the most children on the same day from the same book!

October 8, 2009

Presented in partnership with Pearson, Jumpstart's

Read for the Record Campaign is your chance

to experience and share the important work

Jumpstart undertakes everyday in preschools

across the United States.  Please join us and hundreds of thousands of record-breakers on Oct. 8, 2009, as together we read Eric Carle's classic book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" in a celebration of reading and service - and in supportof Jumpstart's year-round work in america's preschools.

This October 8th, we aim to set a new world record for the greatest

number of people reading the same book on the same day. (It's a record

we've improved upon every year since Jumpstarts Read for the Record

began!) The day starts on NBC's "TODAY' show, with our official spokespeople

Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira, and continues all day long at thousands of

 reading events across the country.
