KIDS CAN HELP!
The Semmes Elementary Student Council is a leadership training organization. Each year the council sponsors community action projects and school pride campaigns. This fall the council is sponsoring The "Kids Can Help" Campaign to help feed the children in the community who are hungry or a risk of hunger and to show that "CARING IS SHARING" During National Food Bank Week, October 12-30TH . The Semmes Elementary Student Council will collect canned foods. The food collected will then be distributed to local food pantries for needy familys in our community.
Nearly forty percent of the people who turn to charities for hunger relief are children. Hungry children - even those who experience only mild malnutrition during the critical stages of their development - will not achieve their full potential. Because Semmes Elementary students are Kids of Character, we desire to show Mobile that "Caring is Sharing" and that together "We Can Be Drug Free"!
Six big red tubs have been placed in the school's foyer. A tub has been labeled for each grade level, K-5. The grade level that collects the most cans of food during The "Kids Can Help" Campaign will be recognized! Schools in the Mobile area that collect the most canned foods will be asked to participate in Free Fun Days at Fantasia, The Exploreum, The Museum of Mobile, and The USS Alabama Battleship Park. With your help, Semmes Elementary can be one of those schools!
Please send one canned food item each day with your child during the week of October 12-30th. We have 530 students. If each student brings five cans we will collect over 2,500 canned food items for the children of Mobile. Please help The Semmes Eagles soar to excellence and show Mobile that we care and that... Being Drug Free Comes In Cans.. I Can, You Can, And We Can!
